I’m Brad Williams, and I see estate planning as so much more than just paperwork—it's really about securing your family's future and staying true to what matters most to you.
After law school, I began my journey as an attorney in Jackson, Mississippi. Having started handling probate cases more than 20 years ago, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the importance of effective estate planning and the potential consequences of having no plan or a poorly crafted one.
My passion for estate planning blossomed while preparing for the sale of my business. In 2005, I founded a company that helped hospitals manage insurance claims, which eventually grew into a large organization serving healthcare systems nationwide. As I considered the future of the business, I knew that the best decision for my family was to sell the company and hand over its management to someone new. This decision required careful consideration and planning. After the proper planning was in place, the company was sold to private equity in 2021, with the proceeds distributed to trusts designed to transfer them outside of my estate for the benefit of my family without unnecessary death taxes.
Throughout this process, I recognized the importance of having a plan in place for everyone—not just the wealthy. I've seen firsthand how a well-thought-out estate plan can protect both personal and business assets. On a personal note, I have a blended family with two kids of my own and four stepchildren. During my planning journey, I realized that existing laws are ineffective, especially in families with diverse dynamics, regardless of whether the estate is worth $100,000 or $100 million. And that is why I am committed to finding solutions that honor each family's unique situation.
